President Morsi appoints Hashim Qandil as Egypt’s new premier

Egypt’s President Mohammed Morsi has appointed Hashim Qandil, the current irrigation minister, as the new prime minister of the African nation.

According to the Egytpian state TV, Morsi appointed Qandil to the position on Tuesday.

Morsi was elected president on June 24 in a runoff that was also participated by Ahmed Shafiq, who served as ousted dictator Hosni Mubarak’s last prime minister.
