“The two sides’ capacities can complement each other and making use of them will not only serve the two countries’ interests but will benefit the region,” Raeisi said in a meeting with Russia’s State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin in Tehran on Monday.
He added that Iran seeks to fully implement the agreements signed with Russia, saying, “The two countries have diverse capacities in various fields of trade, energy, transit and transportation which can be activated to [help] improve cooperation.”
The State Duma speaker, for his part, said President Raeisi’s stance on the expansion of ties with regional and neighboring states would facilitate the promotion of cooperation between Tehran and Moscow.
He added that Russia seeks to constantly boost cooperation with Iran.
Heading a high-ranking delegation, Volodin arrived in Tehran Sunday night to attend the 3rd session of the joint high parliamentary commission between the two countries.
He attended a joint press conference with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf earlier on Monday following a meeting between the two sides.
