President Rouhani Condemns Israel's Air Strike on Lebanon

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani condemned the Israeli air strike on Lebanon, and warned that enemies have hatched a big plot against the regional states.
“The insecurities and terrorist acts in Lebanon and the Israeli regime’s air strike on Lebanon under this condition are condemned, and they show that the enemies have hatched a big plot against the sensitive Middle-East region,” Rouhani told reporters in Tehran on Saturday.

“Such plots are more visible in Syria, Lebanon and Egypt than anywhere else, and we know that regional instability harms the region and Muslims and merely serves Israel’s interests,” he added.

The Iranian President expressed the hope that the region would witness tranquility and stability in the near future through the regional nations’ increased vigilance as well as efforts by those countries which are concerned about the regional stability.

The Israeli fighter jets bombed a site in South of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Friday.

The airstrike was carried out in the early hours of Friday near Na’ameh, between Beirut and Sidon.

Earlier this month, Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour filed a complaint against Israel at the UN to protest against the violation of the Blue Line by the Israeli troops on August 7.

“This action forms a flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty, UN Security Council Resolution 1701, international law and the Charter of the United Nations, as a threat to international peace and security,” said the complaint.

Mansour asked to present this complaint to the UN Security Council, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon and the presidency of the UN Security Council, so that the latter would distribute it to the Member States in the Security Council and issue it as an official document of the Security Council.

Mansour also requested to file the complaint to the presidency of the General Assembly of the United Nations and issue it as an official document of the General Assembly.
