Project to convert heavy oil to lighter products underway

IMG08475149Former head of Iran’s Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Research Center has said the center has underway project to convert heavy oil into light products.
Dr. Mansour Anbia, who was speaking in his farewell address as the head of the research center, delivered a report of his 1245 days in office. “The project to convert heavy oil to lighter products is underway in cooperation with Universities of Tehran, Amir Kabir, and Razi of Kermanshah,” he added.

“The research center has established four research centers of environment and clean technology, chemical product development, modern technologies, and petrochemical engineering, which now are specialized laboratories,” he said, “to the number of scientific board members, the center has established research labs.”

Former head of Chemical Research Center also told that 11 young scientist had been added to the scientific board of the Center. “In the same period, the Center has managed to sign contract to implement 55 projects outside the organization, worth of $ 834, 000,”Anbia asserted.

He also cited implementation of 29 projects worth of about $ 830,000 among the Center’s achievements. “ in 2009 the Center carried out a total of 7 projects; this figure declined in 2010 to two projects, with a new upsurge in 2012 to 38 projects and soared to 55 projects in 2013, with most projects being in defense, oil, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries,” he said.

“14 drug research plans have been implemented during which we have achieved the technology of 40 medications, which of course, failed to progress further due to issues raised by the Health Ministry,” Anbia added.

He also cited establishment of headquarters of Supreme Regulatory Body of Catalyst Plan as another achievement for the Center. “According to an agreement with Supreme Council of Science, Research, and Technology, national projects to convert heavy oil to lighter products were awarded to the Center, which is underway in cooperation with University of Tehran, Amir Kabir, and Razi in Kermanshah.
