Provincial Official Urges Iran, Pakistan to Use Potentials for Regional Peace

A1130766 (1)An Iranian provincial official called on Tehran and Islamabad to utilize all their potentials to establish peace and tranquility in the region.

Sistan-Balouchestan Province’s Governor-General Hatam Narouyee made the remarks in a meeting with the Pakistani Consul General in Zahedan Taher Mahmoud Qureishi on Sunday.

“The two nations of Iran and Pakistan should make use of all their potentials to establish peace and calm in the region,” Narouyee said.

He expressed sympathy for the Pakistani nation and government on the occasion of the recent terrorist attacks in the Pakistani city of Quetta which resulted in the death of 129 citizens and injury of many more others.

The Pakistani consul general, for his part, thanked the Iranian governor-general for sympathizing with the Pakistani people, and said, “Pakistan considers Iran as a pivot of stability and calm in the region, which is vitally important for Pakistan.”

A total of 129 people were killed and 280 wounded in three bomb attacks across Pakistan on Thursday.

Ninety-two people were killed and 200 others wounded in a twin bombing that targeted Shiite Muslims in a crowded billiards hall in the western city of Quetta. Earlier in the day, 12 security forces were also killed in a bomb explosion at a security check point in the city.

In another incident, a bomb detonated inside a mosque in the Swat Valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, northwest of Islamabad, leaving 25 Sunni Muslims dead and 80 others wounded.
