Public anger rising against US ‘corporate plutocracy’

Despite all efforts by most “self-centered money powers” to impose “laissez-fairyland corporate plutocracy” over America’s political system and economy, most of their ideas are increasingly “being discredited” and the public anger is rising against them, said Jim Hightower, national radio commentator and author of Swim against the current: even a dead fish can go with the flow.

“There’s a fast-spreading public anger at their [corporations’] attempts to crush the middle class, shred the social safety net, and grab more money and power for themselves”, he said in an interview with Press TV’s U.S. Desk.

“You can see this rising anger in the majority’s reaction to such recent events as the Wall Street bailout, BP oil disaster, ongoing joblessness, state efforts to take away public employee unionization and bargaining rights, and the move by Congressional Republicans to kill Medicare.”

“From busting unions to a Supreme Court decree unleashing unlimited sums of secret corporate money in our elections, from a relentless push for privatizing public functions to demands for deregulating all of Corporate World, these extremist plutocrats have made big gains over “small-d” democrats,” Hightower said.
