Qassam Brigades: ‘No red lines’ exist for protecting al-Aqsa mosque, Palestinian territories

The spokesman for al-Qassam Brigades, which is the military arm of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, says the group knows no red lines or rules of engagement in its fight for the liberation of al-Aqsa Mosque and in defense of the Palestinian people.

Abu Ubaida made the comments on Thursday while talking about the recent escalation of tensions between Palestinians and Israel across the occupied territories.

“There are no red lines or rules of engagement in our fight for the sake of al-Aqsa and the protection of our people,” he said, adding, “Every price we pay and will pay is a ransom for al-Quds, so there is no sense for our existence without winning al-Quds and al-Aqsa.”

His comments came as Israel continued its airstrikes on the besieged Gaza Strip on Tuesday and Wednesday, drawing a barrage of rockets from resistance groups in Gaza.

The Palestinian health ministry said the death toll from Israel’s raids has risen to 86, including 17 children and seven women. According to Palestinian officials, some 95 percent of the victims are civilians.

The Israeli airstrikes also wounded 487 people in over three days of attacks on the besieged enclave. Israel said some 1,600 rockets have been fired toward the occupied territories by resistance groups in Gaza since Monday evening.

“Today we are fighting the battle of Saif al-Quds, which came to complete the uprising of our people in al-Quds and al-Aqsa and as a victory for the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood,” said Abu Ubaida, stressing, “Our weapons and our preparation for many years are for the victory of our land, our people, and our sanctities.”

The blockaded Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories have been simmering with rage in the past weeks over Israel’s scheme to expel dozens of Palestinians from their homes in the volatile Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of the Old City in the occupied East Jerusalem al-Quds as part of a long-running scheme to Judaize Palestinian lands.

“What distinguishes this battle is the solidarity of our people in all arenas. Our people do not agree on anything like their consensus on their sacred capital and the option of resistance,” the Hamas official noted.

“You will find the al-Qassam Brigades and the Resistance with you, for our blood is your blood, and our fate is yours,” Abu Ubaida said addressing the people of Palestine, adding, “You have seen only part of what we have prepared and accumulated over many years.”

The anger against the Tel Aviv regime further intensified earlier this month after Israeli attacks on Palestinian worshipers in the al-Aqsa Mosque compound during the fasting days of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Abu Ubaida said that launching rockets against Israeli targets in Tel Aviv, Dimona, Jerusalem al-Quds, Beersheba, Ashdod and other cities of the regime is extremely easy for resistance groups in Gaza.

“The bombing of Tel Aviv, Dimona, al-Quds, Beersheba, Ashdod and other cities is easier for us than drinking water,” the Hamas official said.

Addressing the Zionist regime, Ubaida noted, “Despite the power difference between us and the enemy, we have, with the help of God, launched massive missile strikes that no countries and regimes dared to direct at you.”

“The world has seen your disappointment, as you bomb civilians and residential towers to display fire,” he added, addressing the Israeli regime. “Gather what you want from your forces on land, sea, and air. We have prepared for you types of death that will make you curse yourselves.”

The Israeli military has been under fire globally over its crimes against Palestinians, especially those residing in Gaza, which has already been under a crippling Israeli siege.
