Recent changes bring new political chapter for Yemen

The Middle East expert, Jafar Ghannad-Bashi in an exclusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) delineated the direction of recent chances in Yemen, voicing optimism for the future of the country.

“What is happening in Yemen thereafter announcement of the constitutional decree that dissolved Parliament along with resignation of Yemen’s president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and the prime minister, Khaled Bahah, can be counted as the next phase thereupon the revolution. Given that it can be said that Yemen has been entered to a new political phase,” said Ghannad-Bashi.

The political commentator went on to add, “Movement against the foresaid process should also be held as an anti-revolutionary stream which aims at refraining a new system to be established.”

In his line, Ansarullah movement is well on the way to be regarded as an axiom of the present forces and the majority of parties and political groups in this country.

“The new dialogues held presently are mainly related to and after the new political foundations,” said Ghannad-Bashi stressing the political parties in the country place attempts to compile new regulations and constitutions for Yemen so as to from a new construction and system for the country.

“These forces are the majority of political parties which are joined by the army; given that they enjoy a considerable power,” said the Middle East expert.

The political analyst stressed that Yemen’s President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who had stepped down from his post late January, has officially withdrawn his resignation after fleeing the capital, Sana’a, for his hometown Aden, where he has been meeting senior security officials and provincial governors.

Ghannad-Bashi went on to underscore, “due to his lack of forces and his absence in the capital city, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi cannot bring that much change to the country. But in his line former president’s activity can be stumbling block in the process of forming a new government and political system.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ghannad-Bashi underlined, “Some of south provinces in Yemen are equipped by Saudi Arabia so as to block any attempt leading to forming a new system and Mr. Mansur Hadi is on top of those equipped separatist forces in the south.”

“One of the ways used by the West against any revolution is backing and supporting separatists and now measures done in this area can block establishment of the new system,” added the political analyst. “Given that, a year full of challenge can be anticipated for Yemen.”

In his term, “separatists are determined not to let a new democratic government to be formed in the country.”

According to Ghannad-Bashi, “the main recent changes happening in the country are all in favor of Yemen, inasmuch as the former system’s remnants fully collapsed, Yemeni parliament dissolved, president and prime minister resigned.”

In his line, “the new process is in step with agreements the UN special envoy to Yemen, Jamal Benomar follows and sits at the hearts of Ansarollah moves. Such Process can in turn form a new system, upholding the currect dominent process from the remnants of former system.”
