Resistance to intensify measures against Israel: Iran

An Iranian deputy foreign minister says the Islamic resistance front will take harsher measures against Israel if the regime does not cease its military attacks against Gaza.

“If the Zionists do not stop their military operations against Gaza, the next step of the resistance and jihadist groups in the region could make the situation more complicated for them,” Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Sunday.

The besieged Gaza Strip is under fire from Israel for the sixth consecutive day. The Israeli military says it has attacked the coastal conclave 1,350 times since the fresh wave of attacks started on November 14.

At least 92 Palestinians, including many women and children, have been killed in the new Israeli onslaught.

Attacks on Gaza showed Israel’s “misanalysis of the situation,” Amir-Abdullahian said.

“They thought that the status of Syria in the resistance front, and the resistance front in the broad sense of the word, had been weakened because of the ongoing conflicts in Syria and the campaign that different countries have started in Syria under the pretext of democratization,” the Iranian official added.

Amir-Abdollahian added, however, that Israel should not have misread the situation in the region considering the wave of Islamic Awakening sweeping across the Middle East and North Africa and the change in regional players.

“The crushing response that Gaza and the resistance gave [Israel] by launching missiles towards Tel Aviv and the important centers of the Zionist regime proved that, as a direct result of regional developments and the Islamic Awakening, an equation has developed in favor of resistance in the region.”
