Retired Lebanese General Stresses Collaboration between Great Satan US, Al-Qaeda

A prominent retired Lebanese General and political analyst noted the United States’ collaboration with the al-Qaeda, and said that the terrorist group is now at the US service.

“The Al-Qaeda leaders are well aware of the good relations between the network and the US while junior al-Qaeda terrorists assume their group is an enemy of the US and is in deep conflict with Washington,” Amin Hatit told FNA on Tuesday.

“Yet, no matter they want it or not, the al-Qaeda members are acting in the interests of the US,” he added.

The US announced that it has killed al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden just when the western public opinion realized the collaboration between the US and al-Qaeda and the flames of popular uprising and revolution were spreading in the Arab states across the region.

Earlier, a senior strategic analyst said that the US has renewed its alliance with the al-Qaeda terrorist group to regain its influence in the region to confront and harness Iran’s clout.

Speaking to FNA on Sunday, Amir al-Moussavi said that the US has resorted to the al-Qaeda terrorist group to make the region insecure after it failed to prolong its military presence in Iraq, isolate Iran on the regional and international scenes and contain its peaceful nuclear program, and topple the Syrian government.

He pointed to the ongoing Islamic Awakening movements and popular uprisings in the region that have toppled the US-backed dictatorial regimes in the Middle-East and North Africa, and stated, “When the US realized that it cannot hinder the Arab Spring inspired by the Islamic awakening in the region, and Washington failed to hijack these Islamic Revolutions, it tasked the al-Qaeda with rocking the boat to block the path of these revolutions.”

US alliance with terrorist groups has been acknowledged by other analysts as well.

Speaking to FNA, Director of the Arab and International Strategic Studies Center Qaleb Qandil said that Washington has freed hundreds of al-Qaeda prisoners in Iraq before withdrawing its forces from the war-torn country and infiltrated these terrorists into Syria to carry out attacks against the Syrian people.

He pointed to the recent terrorist bombings in Damascus that killed dozens of people, and stated, “The incident reminds us of those cases in which the US and its allies provoked the al-Qaeda elements in the region.”

Qandil stated that hundreds of al-Qaeda elements have penetrated into Syria through the country’s borders with Lebanon and Jordan and now Iraq.
