Rohani vows constructive interaction with world

fathi20130603150649403Iranian presidential candidate Hassan Rohani says he will encourage positive interaction with countries if elected president.

The Reformist candidate, who is on his first campaign visit to the western city of Ahvaz, Khuzestan Province, added on Monday that the “Administration of Foresight and Hope” would revive the economy and morality in Iran.

He added that the Iranian nation needs stability, security and welfare more than anything else.

”Our people want justice in practice and not in just words because Iran belongs to all Iranians,” Rohani pointed out.

The president of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council reiterated that Iran belongs to all ethnic and religious groups.

The presidential candidate added that if he wins the June race, he will codify civil rights and turn it into mandate and law in Majlis so that all Iranians “have equal civil rights.”

Rohani said the country will be at peace with itself and its neighbors if he becomes Iran’s president.

Other candidates include lawmaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili, Expediency Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei, former First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref, Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, former Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Gharazi, and former Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Velayati.

Iranians will go to the polls in the country’s 11th presidential elections on June 14. The fourth city and rural council elections are also scheduled to be held on the same day.

Nearly 50.5 million Iranians are eligible to vote in the upcoming presidential election, with more than 1.6 million first-time voters.
