Rouhani: All European countries should denounce US unilateralism

President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday urged all European countries to bolster multilateralism while denouncing US unilateralism.

Current policies adopted by the US president should be doomed and all should spare no effort to respect their pledges and commitments in dealing with international accords, he said.

President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with Iran and Switzerland high-ranking delegations in presence of his Swiss counterpart in which both sides underlined deeply-rooted affinities between the two countries.

The JCPOA was a good deal leading to further expansion of relations between Iran and Switzerland as Iran fully remained committed to its pledges, he said.

The world public opinion was satisfied with the agreement, he said, adding that it is expected that the world countries to help maintain and continue the treaty.

One of the parties has illegally withdrawn from the treaty and is now threatening others to do so, he said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to broaden friendly ties with the world countries, European Union and the Switzerland in particular and expects all European countries to bolster multilateralism and denounce the US unilateralism, Rouhani said.

Grounds for expansion of economic cooperation between Iran and Switzerland are well-prepared, President Rouhani said.

He called for formation of a special committee to examine existing problems and help expand economic cooperation between the two sides.

The US is the biggest violator of human rights in the world, underlined President Rouhani.

Swiss president, for his part, said relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Switzerland are deeply-rooted and which is source of pride for both sides, he said.

Signing of scientific, health and transportations agreements proves the two sides’ firm determination on broadening such ties and cooperation, he said.

Switzerland has always backed the JCPOA and regards it as an unprecedented victory for world diplomacy, he said.

The US withdrawal from the JCPOA is not tantamount to closure of the treaty and today other parties vow to support it, he said, adding that Switzerland praised Iran’s rational and moderate stances in dealing with the US withdrawal from the treaty, President Rouhani added.

The US move leaves no impact on expansion of economic cooperation between the two sides’ state-run and private sectors, he said.
