Russia forces kill five ‘bandits’ in Dagestan

Russian security forces have killed five “bandits” during a special operation in the North Caucasus republic of Dagestan.

According to Press TV, Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) said on Saturday that the “bandits” were killed during two separate gun battles in the Caspian Sea coastal city of Derbent.

Three members of the group were killed when gunfire erupted between law enforcement officers and suspected militants after security forces stormed a home in the city.

The NAC stated, “Three bandits were killed in the engagement and a powerful explosive device went off in the house. Law enforcers seized at the site assault rifles, a multi-firing shotgun and several grenades.”

In a separate incident, two suspected militants were killed when they opened fire on security officers after their vehicle was stopped at an intersection.

The NAC said the suspected militants were plotting to stage a number of attacks during holidays in the month of May.
