Russia said on Saturday that the announcement by Iran and P5+1 that they had found solutions to solve disputes over Iran’s nuclear energy program has already raised the prospects of more economic cooperation between Moscow and Tehran.

Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said his country is interested in entering the Iranian market once the US-engineered sanctions are lifted against the country.

Manturov emphasized that Russia is willing to take a bigger share of the Iranian market in particular in sectors such as automobiles, aircraft as well as the shipbuilding industries.

Iran is a country where “Russia sees its interest in terms of entering its market,” Manturov has been quoted as saying by Russian news agencies. “Just entering and selling something doesn’t work these days. It’s necessary to develop cooperation. Iran is not an exception in this sense,” he added.

Over a week of talks between top diplomats of Iran and the P5+1 in Lausanne culminated in a joint statement on Thursday in which the sides said they had reached understanding over solutions to move ahead toward drafting a comprehensive nuclear agreement before 30 June. A key point of Lausanne statement was a promise to lift the economic sanctions on Iran.
