Russian fishing ship capsizes, 6 dead, 9 missing

A Russian fishing vessel has capsized in the Sea of Japan, leaving at least six people dead and nine others missing, Russian officials say.

The Chance-101 fishing boat with 30 Russian and Indonesian sailors on board sank in Japan’s waters on Sunday.

Reports say 15 crewmembers, including four Indonesians, were found alive in two lifeboats and rescued by passing ships.

“As of now, 21 crew members were found (15 alive and six dead), while nine crew members are still missing,” said Russia’s Primorye Transportation Prosecutor’s Office on Monday.

An air and sea search operation is underway to find the missing people.
