Salehi: Iran set to face any West-led ploy in nuclear case

Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has reiterated Tehran’s determination to continue with its peaceful nuclear program, insisting on the nation’s willingness to even deal with “the worst-case scenario.”

“Since we believe that we are right, we do not have the slightest doubt in the pursuit of our nuclear program. Therefore, we plan to move ahead with vigor and confidence and we do not take much heed of [the West’s] propaganda warfare. Even in the worse-case scenario, we remain prepared,” said Salehi at a Sunday news conference with his Nicaraguan counterpart Samuel Santos in the Iranian capital city, Tehran.

He lashed out at contradictory positions of Western governments towards Iran’s civilian nuclear program and said while they welcome Iran’s readiness for talks with the P5+1 (China, France, Russia, the UK and the US plus Germany), they raise baseless allegations against the country and resort to aggressive remarks against Tehran.

“Since they have an arrogant nature, they have not learned to engage in political interactions with prudent and humane manners,” Salehi pointed out.

Salehi called on the West to adopt a policy of dialogue rather than confrontation and expressed optimism that “Western countries, as a whole, will amend their policies towards Iran.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran is pursuing a sensible policy that is based on cooperating with all nations of the world, as far as peace, global security and stability is concerned, he emphasized.

Iran’s top diplomat also touched on the recent alleged anti-Israeli attacks in Georgia, India and Thailand, and described them as part of a plot hatched by Tel Aviv, intending to damage Iran’s relations with friendly countries.

Salehi argued that the Israeli regime has assassinated many Muslim officials and nuclear scientists across the world and questioned the viability of anti-Iran claims by a regime “whose hands are stained with the blood of other people” and “has legitimized state terrorism.”

On Tuesday, a man hurled a grenade at Thai police and a cab. The attacker was injured seriously in the blast. Bangkok police say they found Iranian identification documents on the maimed man. The site of the blast is just a few miles from the Zionist Occupation Israeli Embassy.

Earlier in the day, a house rented by three men that local police claimed were Iranians exploded when a cache of explosives went off by accident. Soon afterwards, there was a third blast on a nearby road, Thai police said.

The three explosions in Bangkok happened one day after bomb attacks targeted Zionist Occupation Israeli Embassy staff in India and Georgia.

Zionist Occupation Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quickly claimed that Iran was behind the attacks. Iran rejected the allegations as baseless emphasizing that they are part of Tel Aviv’s psychological warfare campaign against Iran.
