Sana’a airport closure means catastrophe to Yemen: Airport director

Over 100,000 patients have lost their lives since they could not travel for treatment due to the closure of Yemen’s Sana’a International Airport.

That is a sad story told by Khaled al-Shayef, the managing director of the airport.

“The closure of Sana’a airport turned Yemen into a large prison,” he said.

“It led the country to a humanitarian catastrophe.”

The airport, he added, served more than eleven governorates.

There are still about 400,000 patients whose lives are at risk, Shayef said, and every day, an average of 25 to 30 patients die.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of a press conference held Sunday by the european-humanrights.org, which advocates the rights of the Yemeni nation.
