Saudi Arabia bans journalist from writing

A Saudi journalist says Saudi authorities have banned him from writing in newspapers, because he criticized the Ministry of the Interior.
Ali al-Elayan, Saudi journalist, wrote in his Twitter page, that Saudi newspaper Al-Watan has stopped him from writing after publishing his last column, entitled ‘first message to Mohammed bin Nayef’.

Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, is in charge of Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry.

The journalist had called for more active role by Interior Ministry fighting high rate of theft and robbery in the kingdom.

However, on Tuesday, the Human Rights Watch announced that the persecution of human rights activists continues in Saudi Arabia. In the most recent case, four human rights activists have been interrogated on April 3, 2013 in the country, and may be prosecuted on charges of forming an illegal organization.

HRW organization has called on the Saudi authorities to immediately end the harassment of human rights activists.
