Saudi Arabia spearheads violence, division in Iraq
Saudi Arabia, along with Qatar and Turkey, has been spearheading a campaign to provoke violence and ethnic conflict in Iraq, a Middle East expert said.
“What we’re witnessing now is a dramatic upsurge in violence. All this is actually part and parcel of the relentless, concerted effort and strenuous attempt spearheaded by Saudi Arabia, backed up also by Qatar and joined by Turkey,” said Zayd al-Isa.

The anti-Iraqi plot aims “to inflame, ignite the ethnic divisions, the ethnic tensions and, on top of that, to instigate, to stir up the sectarian violence,” the analyst added.

Isa noted that a major part of the Saudi-backed scenario is aimed at “breaking up the strategic alliance between the Shias and the Kurds” in order to weaken and destabilize Iraq.

The analyst pointed out that since 2003 Saudi Arabia has launched its campaign “to destabilize, discredit, derail and severely undermine the fledgling democracy in Iraq” as the Riyadh views Baghdad as “a major and existential threat to its own security and stability.”

According to reports in late January, Iraqi security forces arrested 250 Saudi-backed Wahhabi terrorists in Iraq.

The terrorists, who had been deployed to the Middle Euphrates region, were reportedly ordered to carry out armed operations in the Iraqi cities of Karbala, Najaf, and al-Diwaniyah.

According to the commander of the Iraqi forces, Saudi spy chief Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud had allocated 250 million US dollars for the terrorist operations in Iraq.

The terrorists confessed they had assassinated hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis.

Violence has increased in Iraq since December 2011, when an arrest warrant was issued for fugitive Iraqi Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi, who has been charged with running a death squad targeting Iraqi officials and Shia Muslims.
