Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Muqdad says eliminating terrorism should top the agenda in the upcoming peace talks on Syria, scheduled to be held in Switzerland next month.
“This is fundamental point which all the Syrians should agree on and then all other points are open to be debated,” Muqdad told AFP on Thursday.
He added that the most important point for us is maintaining the Syrian state integrity and not creating a vacuum.
The Deputy Foreign Minister said, “Syria is fully prepared to participate in the conference and we will announce the names of the delegation soon”.
He emphasized that, at the conclusion of the dialogue, we want the polls to say who will lead the country.
“President Bashar al-Assad enjoys the support of the vast majority of Syrians opposed to French President Francois Hollande who does not enjoy but the support of only 15 percent of French people”.
“No one can prevent President al-Assad to stand for a new presidential term in the year 2014,” Muqdad stressed.
He called on the international community to put Saudi regime on the list of the countries that support and sponsor terrorism.
“I think those who have supported terrorist groups in Syria are feeling now that they have committed big mistakes…The only country that still declares its full support for terrorist groups and al-Qaeda is Saudi Arabia,” Muqdad said.
He underlined that if the world wants to avoid a new September 11, it should say enough to this country and put it on the list of the countries that support terrorism.
On Iran’s participation in the international conference on Syria, Muqdad said, “It is regrettable that France and the USA emphasize the non-participation of Iran, while Saudi Arabia, which destroys Syria, will be present”.
Earlier, Muqdad told the Syrian TV that the Saudi regime works overtly and with no shame on pumping more funds and weapons to terrorists in Syria and Iraq, covered by the Israeli intelligence.
“Saudi-Israeli relations have become public, as they exchange visits and talks and have joint operation rooms,” Muqdad said.
