Saudi Arabia to Purchase Military Equipment from Turkey

A1138844 Saudi Arabia will purchase Turkey’s Anka Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)s and Altai tanks, local media reported.

The Saudi Chief of General Staff Hussein Bin Abdellah Al-Gobail paid an official visit to Turkey to purchase Turkish tanks and UAVs.

Al-Gobail met with Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and his Turkish counterpart Necdet Ozer.

Riyadh plans to buy Turkish armored vehicles worth $2bln, the Cihan News Agency reported.

Turkey has worked to create its first reconnaissance UAV since 2004.About 180 engineers have been involved in the project which relates to medium class vehicles with a long flight span.

ANKA has several advantages in comparison to the Israeli UAV Heron. The Heron can lift no more than a 185 kilograms payload to the height of 30,000 feet, while this figure exceeds 200 kilograms for the ANKA UAV.
