Saudis would release Sheikh al-Nimr if Tariq al-Hashimi exonerated
Saudi officials has said they will release Sheikh al-Nimr if Tareq al-Hashimi is pardoned.
The website for Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council reported that Saudis informed them through a Turkish intermediary that they would release Sheikh Nimr if Tareq al-Hashimi, former Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister, who has escaped, were exonerated from his accusations.
The Turkish intermediary informed the Iraqi officials. Saudi Arabia has intensified pressures on Shiite activists.
Tareq al-Hashimi has a record of supporting terrorist groups inside Iraq.
