Sayyed Nasrallah on Ashura: Syria pillar of resistance

سید حسن نصرالله: به امام خامنه‌ای پ

The secretary general of Lebanon’s resistance movement, Sayyed Hassan Nasrullah, attended the annual mass march in Lebanon to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein, the third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Muhammad.

Nasrullah stressed the importance of his group’s presence in Syria to counter what he described as existential threats. He also slammed the Saudi-backed March 14th Bloc, who have placed Hezbollah’s withdrawal from Syria as the sole condition to end a 7-months-old stalemate and to allow the formation of a Lebanese cabinet line-up.

The Ashura procession was attended by hundreds of thousands of Lebanese who poured onto the streets of Beirut’s Southern suburb. They pledged allegiance to Imam Hussein who was martyred with 72 of his companions in Iraq’s Karbala over 1350 years ago. The third Shia Imam who stood against the tyrant of his time and pledged resistance against injustice, inequity and falsehood is mourned annually by millions of Muslims worldwide.

In spite of heightening security threats of terror attacks, the Lebanese’ commitment to the cause of Imam Hussein was proven intangible. More so, people here believe that the way Imam Hussein paved with his blood must be the gate to Muslim awakening and unity.
