Sayyed Safieddine: Adopting 1960s Lebanon’s Electoral Law National Sin

hacHead of Hizbullah’s Executive Board, His Eminence Sayyed, Hashem Safieddine viewed that the hot topic being discussed today in Lebanon is the electoral law, “but the truth is that [some] target Lebanon’s unity and strength and Syria’s stability.”

In a memorial ceremony for Martyr Mustafa Mazeh’s father, Mahmoud Mazeh, His Eminence pointed out, “Some seek to make Lebanon go back to the era of defeat and narrow-mindedness.”
“We face a political battle today that is not concerned with the electoral law or parliamentary majority, but there is a party in Lebanon, with dictations from foreign sources,” he said.

In parallel, Syyed Safieddine accused some Lebanese parties of seeking to make our nation to go back to the era of political defeat at the time the resistance placed it in the era of victories and strength against “Israel”.
Moreover, His Eminence highlighted, “Some attempt, through mischievous means, to impose the 1960s electoral law on Lebanese, which is in fact a retrospective law,” underscoring that these methods are exposed and the electoral law is annulled.

Sayyed Safieddine further reiterated, “Whoever considers to hold elections by the 1960s law must think and reevaluate the national sin they are committing and the repercussions of their acts,” describing the US, Arab, and foreign countries intervention in parliamentary elections through their embassies as blunt and outrageous.
Furthermore, Sayyed Safieddine called on these parties not to frighten Lebanese with their economy or livelihood, and stated that such intimidation will not change anything.

For his part, the Iranian ambassador’s representative Mohammad Hasan Joweid delivered a speech condoling the martyr’s father on behalf of the Iranian Republic.
