The Arabic language al-Waqt news website quoted a security source as saying that the ISIL has sent almost 700 Jeish al-Khelafa (the army of Caliphate) forces from the city of Palmyra (Tadmur) in Eastern Homs to Deir Ezzur in the last several days.

Al-Waqt added that around 20 vehicles carrying special forces of the ISIL led by Abu Hassan Araqi, a notorious member of ISIL’s military council, left Mosul via Tal Safouk and arrived in Deir Ezzur yesterday.

The source told the news website that as the ISIL has been faced with the firm resistance of the Syrian army troops, the terrorist group has transferred more fresh forces and military equipment from al-Sukhnah region in Homs to Deir Ezzur.

According to reports, after ISIL’s control over regions in Eastern Aleppo, Omar al-Shishani (from Chechnya), Abu Mohammad Ameriki (American) and Abu Ayman al-Iraqi established Jeish al-Khelafa and started to recruit and train fresh militants from Chechnya, Africa and Uzbekistan.

Then, the terrorists drove a wedge along the government-controlled regions after capturing Deir Ezzur’s cemetery and the road connecting the city to the airbase.

The sources said that the army soldiers engaged in intensive fight against ISIL North of al-Omal region to recapture al-Omal and then the city’s cemetery to reopen the road connecting the city to the airbase.

The source added that Syrian and Russian fighter jets have been providing massive aerial back up for the ground troops of the army.

In the meantime, the army men fended off ISIL’s attacks in Panorama and the university’s residential area in Southwestern outskirts of Deir Ezzur, killing tens of the militants.
