Sedition is not over yet: intelligence minister

Intelligence Minister Heydar Moslehi says the seditious movement which started after the presidential election in 2009 is not over yet and seditionists are still trying to undermine the system.
“As a person responsible for the country’s intelligence apparatus I announce” that seditionists are orchestrating different plots to do a blow to the Islamic system and therefore the activities of “the leaders and directors of the sedition” should be carefully monitored.

Addressing worshippers in Tehran before the Friday prayers sermons, Moslehi said sedition has different layers.

“Sedition does not have just one layer. Except a layer that we see it in media sedition has other layers and it seeks to target the roots of the system, therefore it entails vigilance and special feeling of responsibility” on the part of responsible bodies, the minister explained.

He added, “Special figures should be careful not to be trapped again” by the seditious movement.

Elsewhere in his speech the minister referred to the soft war against the country, saying the enemy, in order to do a blow to the system, is seeking to change the political and cultural mindset of the public and weaken the public’s religious beliefs.

He went on to say, “Today, even though we are not in a physical war with the enemy, we are engaged in a heavy intelligence war” with it.

However, he said there are certain persons who through their “simple analyses” argue against such discussions that the enemy is planning to overthrow the Islamic system.

Moslehi also said the Intelligence Ministry is taking a departure from a passive and defensive approach to one of aggressive against the enemies.
