Senior Iraq army commander Martyred: Spokesman

The commander of the Iraqi army’s 6th division has been killed by shelling west of Baghdad, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki’s security spokesman said in a statement.
Major General Najm Abdullah al-Sudani was killed by “hostile shelling” west of Baghdad, Lieutenant General Qassem Atta said.
Sudani was killed on Monday in the Abu Ghraib area, just west of Baghdad.
Maliki issued a statement offering his condolences on the death of Sudani, who was “martyred on the field of battle”.
