Senior MP Blames zionist Regime for Abduction of Iranian Engineers

A senior Iranian lawmaker took the Zionist regime responsible for the abduction of several Iranian engineers in the Syrian Homs city last month, and asked the Damascus government to take swift and immediate action to set them free.

“The parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission is fully aware that the abduction has been done on the basis of a plot hatched by the Quds Occupying Regime,” member of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini told FNA on Sunday.

He reiterated that the Iranian engineers were abducted after the zionist regime started exercising its plots for creating tension in Syria.

Meantime, Naqavi Hosseini stressed that the Iranian parliament and foreign ministry are seriously pursuing the fate of the abducted engineers and make their best efforts to set them free.

The group of engineers was abducted on December 20 en route to the 450-MW power plant they were involved in building in Homs at 6:30 a.m. local time.

The Iranian mission in Damascus has asked the Syrian government to take swift and immediate action to set the five engineers free and identify their abductors.

Earlier this month, Iranian Ambassador to Damascus Mohammad Reza Sheibani in a meeting with Syrian top diplomat Walid Mualem asked the Syrian government to take immediate action to release the five Iranian engineers.

During the meeting in Damascus, the two diplomats reviewed the latest developments and efforts made by the Syrian side to release the Iranian nationals from the hands of their kidnappers.

Mualem had earlier in a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi assured Tehran of his country’s serious efforts to pursue the fate and secure the safe release of the five Iranian engineers.
