Senior MP Lambasts Foreign Interference in Syria

A senior Iranian legislator blasted the foreign countries for their interfering remarks and moves against Damascus, stressing that the Syrian people and government are capable of settling their problems.

Member of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh described dialog between the Syrian government and the opposition as the only path to resolve the crisis in the Middle Eastern country.

Speaking at the 126th Inter-Parliamentary Union Summit in the Ugandan capital of Kampala, Falahatpisheh said the ongoing unrest in Syria must be ended by the Syrians themselves and through peaceful means, including negotiations between opposition figures and government officials as well as the implementation of political and social reforms.

He added that foreign attempts to sponsor rebels and sneak arms into the Syrian soil have actually exacerbated the situation in the Arab country.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by U.S, Zionist Israel-backed and financed armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.

Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.

The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.

In October, calm was eventually restored in the Arab state after President Assad started a reform initiative in the country, but Zionist Israel, the US and its Arab allies are seeking hard to bring the country into chaos through any possible means. Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots in the hope of stirring unrests in Syria once again.
