Provincial sources confirmed that several ISIL terrorists were killed or were wounded in the Syrian army’s mortar attacks in the Eastern city of Deir Ezzur.

“The Syrian Army targeted the ISIL terrorists’ gatherings in al-Jurah and al-Rasafah districts in the Southeastern outskirts of Deir Ezzur city, claiming lives of several militants,” the sources said.

“The ISIL terrorists had gathered in al-Jourah and al-Rasafah to carry out a joint offensive against the government positions, but the army troops tracked and targeted them with heavy mortar attacks,” the source said.

“The ISIL terrorists left behind the dead and injured members and retreated forces,” the sources went on to say.

On Thursday, the Syrian fighter jets intensified their air raids on ISIL strongholds in Deir Ezzur, killing and injuring a group of terrorists.

Informed sources said the Syrian warplanes launched airstrikes against ISIL gathering centers and fortified positions in al-Jafre village to the Southeast of Deir Ezzur city, destroying the terrorists’ positions and vehicles and killing all the terrorists inside them.

A large group of ISIL terrorists were also killed and their vehicles were destroyed in airstrikes in al-Mura’yeh village.

Meanwhile, the army engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL Takfiri militants in Sina’ah neighborhoods in Deir Ezzur city.
