Several killed in Damascus suburb terrorist car bombing

Several people have been killed in a car bomb explosion in the Damascus suburb of Muadamiya al-Sham as foreign-backed insurgents continue their deadly attacks across the country.

A watchdog group said the explosion occurred outside a mayor’s office in the town of Muadamiya al-Sham, south of the capital, on Friday.

It was not immediately clear how many people were killed in the blast. Some reports say all the victims were civilians.

A series of blasts have rocked Damascus and its suburbs over the past week, killing and injuring dozens of civilians.

Syrian authorities have blamed insurgents fighting against the government of President Bashar al-Assad for the deadly attacks.

On Tuesday, at least ten Syrian civilians were killed after three explosions hit al-Worod neighborhood in the western Damascus suburb of Qudsaya.

Eleven people were also killed in a bombing in the capitals’ al-Mazzeh district on Monday.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of security forces, have been killed in the violence.

Syria accuses Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey as well as some Western countries of fanning the flames of violence in the country.
