Several US-led troops die in Afghan war

Separate militant attacks and bomb explosions have killed at least seven US-led soldiers in various parts of Afghanistan over the past 24 hours, NATO says.

The Western military alliance says two soldiers were killed in a roadside blast in the west of the country while another died after a bomb went off in the south.

NATO has not revealed the nationalities of the soldiers or the exact location of the incidents.

Four other NATO soldiers were also killed in Afghanistan on Saturday.

Earlier, three of soldiers died in clashes with militants in the country’s east. Most soldiers serving in eastern Afghanistan are American.

This while the alliance says another soldier was killed in a militant attack in the south.

At least 2,550 international troops have lost their lives in Afghanistan since the invasion of the country in 2001.

As the US-led forces casualties continue to rise in Afghanistan, public opinion in the United States and other Western countries is increasingly turning against the Afghan war.

The security situation has steadily deteriorated across Afghanistan over the past few years despite the presence of around 150,000 US-led foreign troops in the country.
