Sheikh Ekrema Sabri renews rejection of visits to Jerusalem

Sheikh Ekrema Sabri, the higher Islamic authority chairman and preacher of the Aqsa Mosque, has renewed his rejection of Arab and Islamic visits to occupied Jerusalem in solidarity with Al-Aqsa mosque.

“My rejection to normalization with the occupation is clear” Sheikh Sabri said, in a statement released on Saturday, commenting on media reports about his position on Jerusalem visits. “Any visit aimed at normalizing ties is rejected out of hand,” he added.

Sheikh Sabri has pointed out that the support of Jerusalem and Jerusalemites is a must either through visits or other legitimate means such as visiting the Red Crescent Societies and other associations that support Jerusalem and Jerusalemites, adding that he did not proclaim anything else contrary to this.

The Palestinian news agency, WAFA, quoted Sheikh Sabri on Friday as saying that visits to Jerusalem in support of Al-Aqsa are welcomed and have nothing to do with normalization.
