Poll: Most think Obama lies to Americans on important matters

A new survey shows that about six in ten American voters believe President Barack Obama lies to the country on important matters.

The Fox News poll released this week said 37 percent think Obama lies “most of the time” and 24 percent say he lies “some of the time.”

Two out of every 10 voters say the president fibs “only now and then” and 15 percent say Obama “never” lies, according to the poll.

The US president is under fire over his statements about Obamacare and Benghazi attacks.

He had claimed that under Obamacare “If you like your plan, you can keep it.” However, he apologized for repeatedly insisting that was true.

“I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me,” Obama said in an interview with NBC last November.

Those who said President Obama lies “most of the time” included 13 percent of Democrats, 12 percent of blacks, 16 percent of liberals, 31 percent of unmarried women and 34 percent of those under age 30.

Those who said Obama “never” lies to the country on important matters are: blacks (37 percent), Democrats (31 percent), liberals (28 percent) and women (19 percent).

The Fox News poll also asks about the trustworthiness of a few possible presidential candidates in 2016.

About half of voters think former secretary of state Hillary Clinton (54 percent) and former Florida governor Jeb Bush (49 percent) are honest and trustworthy, while fewer think the same of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (41 percent).
