Source Denies ISIL’s Claims about Advances in Eastern Aleppo

Informed sources refuted a claim made by a terrorist-affiliated website about ISIL advancing near a strategic airbase in Eastern Aleppo, underlining the Syrian Army soldiers’ full control over the military airport.

A military source told FNA on Sunday that al-Jarah airbase is under the full control of the army, refuting the claim by an ISIL affiliated website about the terrorist group’s control over the military airport.

The source said that the army men are fortifying their positions in the region.

He added that fierce clashes are underway between the army units and ISIL near al-Jarah airbase, stating that the army troops have managed to advance towards al-Maskanah settlement.

Reports said earlier today that the army troops and Air Force along with Russian warplanes targeted the positions and movements of ISIL in Eastern Aleppo, killing and wounding tens of terrorists, including several non-Syrian fighters.

The army’s artillery units shelled ISIL’s positions near al-Jarah military airport, Maskanah settlement and its surrounding regions.

The Syrian and Russian fighter jets pounded ISIL’s positions near al-Jarah military airport, Maskanah settlement and the nearby regions simultaneous with the army’s artillery attack, destroying a position in Maskanah and killing ten terrorists, including foreign ones.

In the meantime, the Human Rights Watch reported that at least 26 ISIL terrorists have been killed in Eastern Aleppo in the last 24 hours.
