SouthFront: Ceasefire in Syria – what does it entail and will it last?

Despite reports of 69 ceasefire violations primarily attributed to Syria’s rebel forces since the 12th of September, Russia and the U.S. appear eager to extend the peace deal.

However, the largely secular Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Islamist rebel factions seem unwilling to accept each other’s long-term presence – therefore, both sides are expected to use the cessation of hostilities to rearm and recruit new troops.
