Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in a meeting with Bangladeshi Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu underlined that the western countries are trying to prevent the independent states’ access to civilian nuclear technology in a bid to force them to rely on the West.
“The western countries’ insistence on blocking other nations’ access to the civilian nuclear technology is rooted in the plots hatched by the big powers to keep independent countries dependent on them,” Larijani said during the meeting.

The Iranian parliament speaker pointed to the ongoing talks between Iran-Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, France and Britain plus Germany), and said, “Iran’s nuclear activities are completely peaceful and the necessary measures for further transparency have been taken.”

Larijani also referred to the important role of parliamentary cooperation to expand Iran-Bangladesh relations in different areas, and said, “The Iranian parliament supports enhancement of ties in different areas, specially economic and parliamentary relations.

The Bangladeshi information minister, for his part, said that the abundant capacities of the two countries, specially in agricultural and industrial fields, have provided the necessary grounds for the broadening of mutual cooperation.

In October, Larijani and his Bangladeshi counterpart Shirin Sherman Chowdhury stressed that expanding all-out relations between the two states would yield much fruit for both Tehran and Dhaka.

In a meeting on the sidelines of the 131st session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, the two top parliamentarians discussed regional and international issues, and vowed to do their best to widen and deepen bilateral ties.

Iran and Bangladesh agreed to further increase their economic ties as the two countries’ fifth joint economic commission meeting wrapped up in Dhaka in mid-May 2013.

Iran and Bangladesh signed an economic cooperation agreement in a special ceremony in Dhaka at the time.
