Spokesman: Iranian Gov’t Stops Implementation of UNESCO 2030 Agenda at Leader’s Order

Spokesman of the Iranian Government Mohammad Baqer Nobakht announced that the country has stopped implementation of the UNESCO 2030 Agenda based on the guidelines of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

“The Leader advises the executives to do the right job based on his high supervisory position, and he made a recommendations regarding the UNESCO 2030 document and given the fact that the government pays attention to his views, the necessary studies were made and the document’s implementation was stopped until its details are clarified and ambiguities are removed,” Nobakht told reporters in his weekly press conference in Tehran on Tuesday.

He explained that the UNESCO 2030 Agenda is a declaration which is non-abiding to the members legally and, meantime, doesn’t need the parliament’s approval.

His remarks came after Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Sayyed  Imam Ali Khamenei said the UNESCO, as a body infiltrated by world powers, has no right to make decisions for other nations, stressing that Iran will never submit to its 2030 education agenda.

“Why should a so-called International body– which is definitely infiltrated by the superpowers—have the right to make decisions for the nations of the world with various cultures,” Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Sayyed  Imam Ali Khamenei said in Tehran on May 7, addressing a large group of teachers and university students on the occasion of teachers day in Iran.

Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Sayyed  Imam Ali Khamenei stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not surrender to UNESCO’s Global Education 2030 Agenda , and said, “The UNESCO 2030 education agenda and the like are not issues that the Islamic Republic of Iran could surrender and submit to.”

Supreme Leader asserted that Iran will not sign such documents, and added, “This is wrong per se. That we sign an agenda and begin to carry it out secretly is wrong. It is not permitted at all. I have declared it.”

The Leader of the Revolution expressed regret that the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution has shown neglect in supervising endorsement of the document, and said, “I am disappointed at the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution. They should have taken care of it and prevented it from getting to where it is now, so that I would not have needed to take action to stop it. It is the Islamic Republic here.”
