Strike for Saudi arrested women

922839_orig Saudi human rights activists have called for strike in solidarity with women arrested by Saudi forces in eastern city of Buraidah.
The statements said that “ our sisters Reema al-Juraish, Maha al-Talaq, Reema al-Muqbil, and Amina al-Rashid from Buraidah have been al-Hayir political prison in Riyadh for 16 days without any visit to their lawyers, which is violation of their rights.”

“These women have been transferred from Buraidah to Riyadh without their families’ knowledge. Cases of torture in Saudi intelligence centers and death hereafter are known for all, and thus, we call all for a strike to support women in arrest,” reads the statement.

“The time and date of the strike is still unknown,” added the statement. Saudi regime arrested women and children demanding the freedom of their family members in recent month. Saudi officials reportedly said that all women and children except for two women have been released. No independent source has confirmed the news.

Saudi sources had it that arrested women have been severely tortured by an agent called Awatif al-Shamari. The same source had it that al-Shamari inflicted on them hunger and beat them.

Human rights institutes have estimated around 30,000 Saudi political prisoners. Saudi cities have been the scene for mass demonstrations demanding free elected government. This demand has been suppressed by crackdown by Saudi forces and many have been died and injured under torture.
