Syria army advances in Aleppo, Idlib, DaraaSyrian Army has carried out major military operations against militants in several areas around the war-torn country, killing a number of armed insurgents and injuring scores of others.
The large-scale operations covered areas in Aleppo, Idlib and other battle fronts on Sunday, SANA news agency reported.
Syrian forces confronted insurgents that attempted to attack a military post near Busra town in Daraa, killing several armed elements and wounding many others.
A military source further stated that army units killed many foreing-backed insurgents in Atman town, destroying their weaponry and ammunition, according to the report.
Meanwhile, a military source told SANA that the army units destroyed two cars which were heading to al-Basheriyeh in the countryside, loaded with weapons and ammunition.
An army unit destroyed an insurgent arms depot full of mortar shells that were made of Gas cylinders, killing 8 terrorists near Maar Tamsaren in the countryside, it said.
Syria has been gripped by a foreign-sponsored insurgency war since 2011. According to reports, Western powers and their regional allies – especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey – are supporting the militants operating inside the country.
A recent British defense study showed that about 100,000 armed insurgents, fragmented into 1,000 groups, are fighting in Syria against the government and people.
