Syria: Army Continues March in Southern Deir Ezzur

The army forces continued clashes with the ISIL terrorists in regions near Deir Ezzur airbase on Thursday, retaking control of the Air Defense battalion and Tal Korom in the Southern parts of Deir Ezzur.

The government troops captured the farms near Jazireh University from al-Baliqiyeh and al-Farsan power plant in al-Baliqiyeh from Westward.

Meantime, the Syrian air force targeted the ISIL positions near al-Jafreh village and in Huwaijeh al-Sukr in Southeastern Deir Ezzur, inflicting a number of casualties on the terrorists.

Faced with the army’s rapid advance, the ISIL has increased the number of its checkpoints in the town of Abu Hardoub and the village of al-Tayaneh in the Southern parts of Deir Ezzur in a last ditch effort to stop the rising number of its fugitive members.

Reports said on Wednesday that the Syrian army troops are preparing for a new phase of military operations against the terrorists in Deir Ezzur after breaking the sieges of the city and its military airport as well as withdrawal of ISIL from several strategic areas.

A large number of reinforcements from the Syrian Army arrived at the 137th Artillery Brigade Base in Western Deir Ezzur to join their comrades in war on ISIL militants.

Fresh forces will be deployed to the provincial capital, where they will help launch the third phase of the Deir Ezzur military operation.

The Syrian Army convoy traveled through the recently liberated Sukhnah-Deir Ezzur Highway, marking the first time in years that the government has made this long trip through the vast Syrian Desert.
