Syrian government forces have continued their operations against Takfiri terrorists across the country, making new gains and inflicting heavy losses on the militants.

According to reports on Wednesday, the ground and air forces of the Syrian army launched an operation against terrorists operating in the area of Joubar, located on the outskirts of the capital, Damascus. It was said that a number of terrorists were killed in the joint operation.

A unit of the Syrian army also killed all members of a terrorist group in an ambush near al-Samalil village in the countryside of the central province of Homs, Syrian official news agency, SANA, reported.

It was also reported that the Syrian army has established control over the strategic area of Tal Ahmar in the southwestern province of Quneitra.

The report does not refer to casualties among government forces.

Militants’ rocket attack

At least one civilian sustained injuries in a mortar attack on a neighborhood of the Syrian capital on Wednesday.

A report by SANA said that four rocket shells fired by Takfiri militants landed in the al-Mazzeh neighborhood of Damascus.

A source at Damascus Police Command told SANA that the shells were fired by terrorists from the so-called “Jaish al-Islam”, who are positioned in Joubar.

The attack also caused material damage to the citizens’ properties.

Foreign-backed Takfiri terrorists also targeted an area in the province of Hama, killing a Syrian civilian and injuring a child.

It is also reported that the Daesh terrorist group targeted the city of Deir ez-Zor, located in the eastern part of the Arab country. There has been no report on the possible number of casualties.

Russian airstrikes

Meanwhile, the Russian Air Force continued its airstrikes against militants in the Middle Eastern country, bombarding the positions of the Takfiri terrorists in the northwestern province of Idlib.

On September 30, Russia started its military campaign against terrorists in Syria upon a request by the government in Damascus, shortly after Russia’s upper house of parliament granted President Vladimir Putin authorization to use military force in the Arab country.

The foreign-backed conflict in Syria, which flared in March 2011, has so far claimed the lives of more than 250,000 people and left over one million injured, according to the United Nations.
