Syria army inflicts losses on insurgents

Syrian army has inflicted heavy losses on foreign-backed insurgents fighting against the government during mop-up operations on the outskirts of the capital Damascus.

According to Press TV, on Friday, a number of insurgents were killed during intense clashes with Syrian troops in the town of al-Ziyabiyeh.
An insurgent commander, identified as Talal al-Mandil, was among the slain gunmen.
Syrian troops also stormed several terrorist hideouts in the towns of al-Khamasia and al-Ahmadia, and shot dead scores of insurgents. Majid Kahal, leader of the insurgent group Shabab al-Baraa Battalion was killed in the process.
Additionally, Syrian troops clashed with insurgents in the town of al-Hejjeira. Dozens of gunmen were killed in the heavy exchange of fire.
A mortar launcher used by foreign-backed insurgents was also destroyed.
Syrian troops engaged gunmen affiliated to the terrorist group Ansar al-Souna Battalion in the town of Yalda. Dozens of insurgents were killed and wounded during the heavy clashes.
A unit of government forces also killed a number of foreign-backed terrorists in the town of Daraya, located 8 kilometers southwest of Damascus.
