Syria army seizes arms smugglers near Qusayr

Syrian army has seized a large pack of arms in Rif al-Qusayr, along Syria’s borders with Lebanon, as a group of militants were trying to smuggle it, al-Alam reports.
The weapons were seized from a group of smugglers trying to infiltrate from Lebanon, but they were captured by army soldiers who were patrolling along the borders.
There was no information about amount of the arms.
Following Qusayr victory which freed the strategic town from a long occupation of terrorists and anti-Syria militants, the army has been keeping a strong presence to block one of the main supply routes used by militants to smuggle arms and forces.
Lebanon-Syria borders are completely under control of the army but there are still occasional infiltration attempts by foreign-backed militants which are usually discovered and foiled by the army.
After Qusayr, the northern province of Aleppo has turned to a main bastion for anti-Syria militants with thousands of them occupying several towns in north of the province and getting backup from Turkey borders.
The condition in Aleppo is reported to be grave with people of villages and small towns being captive to the Takfiri militants who use them as human shields against the Syrian army.
The national Syrian army started an all-out operation in Aleppo in June, but they had to limit their operations due to presence of civilians besieged in several towns under Takfiris’ occupation.
The war in Syria started in March 2011, when pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of Western and regional states.
The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history.
As the foreign-backed insurgency in Syria continues without an end in sight, the US government has boosted its political and military support to Takfiri extremists.
