Syria declares Jordanian Charge d’Affaires persona non grata in tit-for-tat measure

Syria has declared Charge d’Affaires of the Jordanian embassy in Damascus a persona non grata, in response to a similar move by Jordan.

Earlier on Monday, Jordan declared that it considers Syria’s ambassador in Amman a persona non grata.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry described Jordan’s decision as “reprehensible and unjustifiable,” saying it does not reflect the deep fraternal relations between the Syrian and Jordanian people.

The ministry added that it requested Jordanian embassy in Damascus to inform the Charge d’Affaires that he is banned from entering Syrian land.

Foreign Ministry: Voting for president will take place as planned at Syria’s embassy in Jordan

Meanwhile, the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said that voting in the presidential elections will take place as planned at the Syrian embassy in Jordan on May 28, 2014.

The ministry called in an announcement Monday on the Syrians living in Jordan to come to the embassy carrying their passports to cast their ballots from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
