Syria emphasizes on support for Palestinian nation

The Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister has emphasized on his country’s support for the Palestinian people in their struggle to achieve their legitimate rights.

According to Palestinian Ma’an News Agency, during his meeting with a delegation from the executive committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) in Damascus on Monday, Faisal Al-Meqdad said: “The reason behind the current situation in Syria is the Syrian support for the Palestinian issue and Damascus stance towards the conflicts between Arabs and Israelis.”
Al-Meqdad stressed: “Syria is not willing to engage the Palestinian refugees in Syria with the current conflicts.”
Member of PLO Executive Committee, Zakaria Al-agha, who was heading the Palestinian delegation, also emphasized on the necessity of supporting the Palestinian refugees in Syria and expressed hope that the Syrian crisis be resolved immediately.
In his meeting with the Syrian officials, Al-agha discussed the political and domestic situation in Palestine and informed the officials about the current situation of Palestinian refugees in Syria.
There are currently some 10 Palestinian refugee camps in Syria, the largest of which is Yarmouk, south of Damascus.
More than 800 Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of conflicts in Syria caused by the terrorist groups in the country.
