Damascus

The Syrian army forces stormed the two strategic towns of Zabdeen and Deir al-Asafir in the Southern part of Eastern Ghouta in Damascus.

According to a military source in Damascus, a unit of the army special forces sneaked into the Southern gates of Deir al-Asafir and ambushed a rebel unit, capturing 7 terrorists without a single shot fired.

“Subsequently, the Republican Guard was called in and fortified the position; this proved vital as they successfully repelled a counter-offensive by Jaish al-Islam in the evening. Nevertheless, the terrorist group is still in control of a major part of Deir al-Asafir,” the source added.

Meanwhile, the government troops also captured some building blocks in the Western parts of Zabdeen after a heavy firefight with rebel fighters.

Remarkably, another army attack was conducted near Hawsh Duwayr during which the Syrian troops entered a rebel-made tunnel and killed 5 terrorists who were hiding there, according to the source.

The Syrian Army troops and popular forces continued to push the terrorist groups back from more lands in Eastern Ghouta and retook control over key farms after at least 10 days of non-stop battle.

The Syrian Army and National Defense Forces drove the terrorist groups back from the al-Ruqabiyeh farms near a village with the same name.

The terrorist groups left behind several dead members and fled the battlefield to evade more casualties.

The Syrian government forces have started to fortify their positions across the farms and are getting ready to storm the terrorists’ position in the village of al-Ruqabiyeh.
