The Syrian army troops repelled the terrorist groups’ attacks on their positions in Deir Ezzur province, inflicting heavy losses on the militants.

Meantime, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their military advances in other parts of Syria, including Damascus, over past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in Syria’s key provinces.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian army repelled ISIL’s heavy offensive against its military positions in Eastern Deir Ezzur.

The army forces engaged in fierce clashes with the ISIL on Thursday after the terrorists blew up a tunnel in Hawijeh Sokr in the Eastern parts of Deir Ezzur city and launched heavy attacks against military points in the region.

A military source said that the Syrian army soldiers have inflicted heavy casualties on ISIL and forced others to withdraw from the region.

Meantime, the Syrian army rapidly advanced in Deir Ezzur province on Thursday, regaining control of 10 villages and inflicting heavy casualties and damage on the ISIL terrorists.

The Arabic-language Hmeimim news website reported on its facebook page that the army has retaken control of 10 villages in the Western bank of the Euphrates river, destroying 14 ISIL military vehicles, carrying weapons and ammunition, 3 tanks and 2 BMP vehicles.

Many ISIL militants were also killed during the operation.

The report added that the Russian air force also supported the operation, noting that the Russian fighter jets carried out 83 sorties and launched 174 airstrikes on ISIL’s command centers and logistic bases in Deir Ezzur in the past week.

In a relevant development, the Syrian army troops hit ISIL’s defense lines in Deir Ezzur city and its outskirts, tightening the siege on the terrorists in the city neighborhoods, battlefield sources confirmed.

The army men clashed fiercely with ISIL in al-Sina’ah and al-Omal neighborhoods and managed to advance against terrorists in Deir Ezzur city.

The army soldiers pushed ISIL back from more positions in Share’a al-Saeed and al-Rasafeh neighborhoods, inflicting heavy casualties on the terrorists.

In the meantime, the Syrian and Russian fighter jets pounded ISIL’s positions in the city, leaving a number of terrorists dead.

The army’s simultaneous advances against ISIL in the three flanks of Eastern Deir Ezzur, Eastern bank of the Euphrates River and inside the city are forcing the terrorist front into imminent collapse.

Damascus

The Syrian army launched cleansing operations in the last bases of al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hayat or the Levant Liberation Board) in the Southwestern parts of Damascus, advancing towards the terrorists’ strategic positions.

The army forces intensified military operations against al-Nusra Front near Beit Jin region and the adjacent farms in Southwestern Damascus, igniting fierce clashes with the terrorists.

Meantime, the Syrian army’s air and artillery units pounded the terrorists’ bases in the two regions.

A military source said that the Syrian army soldiers continued to advance after regaining control over Tal Bardaiyeh near Moqr al-Mayer, wining back new regions near the strategic hills of Darbal and al-Maqtoul from militants.

According to the Arabic-language service of the Russia-based RT news channel, 30 militants that laid down arms and applied for amnesty in Northeastern Aleppo were pardoned by the Damascus government on Thursday after mediation by the Russian forces at the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria.
