Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Inflicts Heavy Losses on Terrorists in Deir Ezzur Province

 

 The Syrian army hit hard the terrorists’ military positions and hardware in the Eastern part of Deir Ezzur province.

The terrorists in Deir Ezzur province sustained heavy losses in tough battle with the Syrian army.

The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army troops stormed ISIL’s defense lines in Eastern Deir Ezzur and managed to expel terrorists from several positions on Sunday.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL in the town of al-Qouriyeh and captured several key positions.

In the meantime, the army soldiers clashed fiercely with the ISIL near the town of al-Qarbiyeh and imposed control over several more positions North of the town.

The army’s artillery units and aircraft, meantime, pounded ISIL’s positions in the region.

Aleppo

The Russian forces raised the Russian Federation standard above a major base held by Kurdish militias in Northern Aleppo province amid a recent visit to the region by a helicopter.

Video footages released by opposition media sources two days ago shows Russian forces raising the Russian flag above the Kurdish-held Menagh Air Base in Afrin region of Northern Aleppo province, the English-language Lebanon-based AMN reported.

In doing so, the Kurdish YPG flag which previously flew above the military airport was taken down.

The development came after Russian forces paid a visit to both Turkish and Kurdish authorities in Northern Aleppo.

The Russian, Turkish and Kurdish military heads are currently negotiating for the establishment of a de-escalation zone in the Afrin region that is aimed at ending hostilities between Turkey-led forces and the Kurdish People’s Protection Units.

Hama

The Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) engaged in heavy fighting with ISIL and managed to capture two more villages in Northeastern Hama.

The Al-Nusra hit ISIL’s defense lines and pushed the rival terrorists back from the villages of Abu Meel and Marijab in Northeastern Hama.

A number of gunmen from both warring sides, including ISIL Commander Abu Hamza Mesri, were killed in the clashes.

Dara’a

A senior commander of the Free Syria Army (FSA) was killed by unknown raiders in Northwestern Dara’a, An Arab media outlet reported on Sunday.

The Arabic-language al-Manar tv network reported that Ahmad Mohammad al-Ramah nom the guerre Ahmad al-Shamiyeh, one of the commanders of Firqat Sief al-Jonoub affiliated to the FSA, was killed unknown assailants in the small town of al-Mazirib.

Militant-affiliated websites disclosed on Saturday that Mazen Sobhi al-Jofi, a notorious commander of Jeish al-Islam in Southern Syria, was gunned down by unknown attackers in Dara’a province.

The websites reported that unknown assailants opened fire at Mazen Sbohi al-Jofi nom de guerre Abu Wajdi in a region between the towns of al-Tayebeh and al-Jizah, killing al-Jofi and three of his aides.

The websites added that al-Jofi was one of the most notorious commanders of Jeish al-Islam in Southern Syria.
