Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Kills Senior Commander, Regains Control of More Areas in Hama

The Syrian army continued its advances in Hama, and captured more strategic regions in the province, killing several terrorists, including a notorious commander.

The army units drove the ISIL terrorists out of key areas and their surrounding areas in Hama province and killed a senior commander of the Free Syrian Army (FSA).

The Syrian troops inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists in fierce clashes over controlling of strategic regions. They also destroyed military equipment of the terrorists.

The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Hama

The Syrian army attacked the terrorist groups’ military positions in Southern Hama, killing a senior Free Syrian Army (FSA) commander in fierce clashes.

Ahmed Abdel Salam Bakour, senior commander of Jeish al-Tawhid affiliated to the FSA was killed in clashes with the Syrian army near the village of Qabibat in Southern Hama.

The Syrian army units engaged in fighting with Jeish al-Tawhid terrorist group in areas near Hush Qabibat village, Housh Qabibat battalion and Qour al-Asi checkpoint in Southern Hama which resulted in the temporary control of the terrorists over the region, but the Syrian army managed to recapture the lost positions after a massive air and artillery campaign.

Many terrorists were killed in the clashes with the Syrian army.

Meantime, the Syrian army continued its advances in the Eastern countryside of Hama, and retook control of several regions there.

The army units continued their advanced from Sheikh Halal axis in the Northeastern countryside of Salamiyeh, and managed to recapture Points 8 and 9 as well as the villages of Rasm al-Tineh and Rasm Amoun in Eastern Hama.

The Syrian soldiers killed several ISIL terrorists in clashes and destroyed several of their military vehicles.

Idlib

The Syrian army backed by the country’s air force continued its military advances in the Western part of Raqqa and managed to take full control of over 10 regions.

The Syrian army troops took control of the towns of Banr al-Jaeq, Banr Mousa al-Hendi and Bahr Abu Hamat after fierce clashes with the ISIL terrorists in Western Raqqa.

The army forces also managed to recapture the towns of Mazafeh Awijan Bu Khamis, Banr al-Sadran, Akhu Hadleh, Haj Mofazi, Banr al-Adad, Banr Abu al-Sanabel, Banr al-Amaleh and Rajm al-Amaleh hill West of the strategic city of al-Rasafeh.

The Syrian fighter jets also heavily pounded the military positions and movements of the ISIL in the surrounding areas of Bir Abu Kobra and Jonub al-Nashmi as well as al-Karawi village and Al-Rasafeh town which resulted in the death and injury of tens of ISIL terrorists and destruction of a large number of their military vehicles.

Meantime, a military source also pointed to the Syrian forces’ advances towards the strategic al-Rasafeh city, and said that the Syrian army will cut the supply lines of the ISIL between Raqqa and Badieyh (desert) once it comes in control of al-Rasafeh.

Meantime, two senior commanders of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board) terrorist groups were assassinated in Idlib.

After Abdullah Muhammad al-Muhaysini, the commander and Mufti (religious leader) of Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at, escaped death in an assassination attempt which resulted in the death of one of his bodyguards, unknown assailants attacked the car carrying the FSA guards near Badama city in the Western parts of Jisr al-Shaqour, killing one of the terrorist group’s commanders named Mohammad Ali and stealing the car with all the weapons inside.

Also, a commander of Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at called Bashar Sheikh Deeb was killed after unknown assailants fired at him in Sarmin city in the Eastern parts of Idlib.

As operations to assassinate commanders of the FSA and Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at have increased in Idlib, the security situation has also exacerbated in the region.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian and Russian air forces carried out several combat sorties in central Syria, destroying long military convoys of the ISIL terrorists.

The Syrian warplanes carried out a number of flights in Deir Ezzur, and hit hard ISIL’s vehicles near the al-Tharda Mountains and Deir Ezzur-Homs axis.

The Russian fighter jets also carried out a number of combat sorties along the Palmyra-Sukhnah Road and Sukhnah-Tabaqa Road, demolishing several vehicles.

The Syrian and Russian bombardment resulted in destruction of tens of vehicles, including bomb-laden suicide cars and other military equipment of the ISIL.
